Dr. George Fein grew up in New York City, where he received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the City University of New York in 1976. In 1972, he spent 3 months as a Social Science Research Council Fellow in Psychophysiology for Social Scientists at Harvard University School of Medicine. In 1976 he received an appointment in Psychiatry at the Universit... y of California, San Francisco, and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 1989, he received a VA Research Career Scientist Award. He remained at UCSF and the SFVAMC until 1999, when he retired from both institutions (as Professor of Medical Psychology and Radiology) to form his own private research company, Neurobehavioral Research, Inc. in Northern California. In 2005, he began the move of NRI to Honolulu. Dr. Fein has over 180 scientific publications, has been on numerous scientific advisory boards and has supervised over 40 graduate, postgraduate, and junior faculty in clinical research.
