Nelson Genshaft

Nelson's practice focuses on business litigation, professional responsibility, regulatory matters and administrative agency law. He is a past President of the Columbus Bar Association. He has continued his service with the organization by serving as a delegate from the CBA to the American Bar Association's House of Delegates and as a member of the... Board of Columbus Bar Services, which oversees the profit-making ventures of the Columbus Bar Association (e.g. health insurance, CLE classes, and other ventures). Nelson attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (B.S. 1970) and Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D. 1973). He first worked as a regulator at the Ohio Division of Securities (1973-74) and then as Assistant Attorney General representing various agencies that regulated financial institutions (1974-76). Nelson was an associate and then a partner at the Schwartz, Warren & Ramirez firm for 20 years (1976-96) and then a partner in his own small law firm, Wolman & Genshaft, for almost 8 years (1996-2004) before joining the Strip Hoppers law firm. He has been involved in many outside activities, including service on the Columbus Bar Association's Board of Governors (2001-2009), Chair of the CBA's Professional Ethics Committee (1994-98), member of the Board of Trustees for the Jewish Community Center (2002-2006), member of the Jewish Community Relations Committee (2009-present) member of the Board of Directors of the Columbus Jewish Federation (2000-04), President of Ohio Jewish Communities, the state-wide lobbying group for the Ohio Jewish Federations (2001-03) and Chair of the Anti-Defamation League for the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky region (1994-96). Nelson's wife, Carole, is an Adjunct Curator at the Columbus Museum of Art. They live in German Village and have three grown children, one who is the Family Program Coordinator at the Denver Art Museum, one a lawyer in private practice in Aspen, CO and one a lawyer in private practice in Boulder, CO.
