Neilson

Neilson, now a division of Pomerleau Inc., has been operating in the heavy civil sector since 1963. Its first contract was to execute municipal works for the City of Sainte-Foy in Neilson Park, the company's namesake. From the very beginning, Neilson made a name for itself by undertaking drilling and blasting works in remote regions. It carried out... sewer and water projects as well as many major highway projects all across Quebec. Neilson took on projects where the logistics and planning of remote job sites were its main challenges, including airport and marine infrastructure rehabilitation projects, municipal works, and roadwork in northern mining regions. In the late 80s, the company's focus was on major hydroelectric projects for which it provided major civil engineering earthworks and concrete work as well as large-scale underground work and open-pit site work. The new millennium brought work on the Laval subway extension, major roadwork in Quebec and underground excavation work in northern Ontario. In 2009, Neilson began a major hydroelectric contract in Manitoba that continued into 2012. Following this, the Neilson horizon has been dominated by pipeline, bridge, roadway, wind farm, tunnel and hydroelectric projects. Acquired by Pomerleau in 2012, Neilson is a major player in the Canadian construction industry.
