NEECA now provides outdrive propshaft straightening and reconditioning. And it's the best in the business for four BIG reasons. First, we beat the OEM straightness specs with .002" TIR at the rear of the shaft. Second, we preserve the factory heat treat and bending strength by performing the straightening cold. Third, since we straighten the shaft... cold it's not necessary to remove the forward/reverse clutches: just leave them in place. Finally, if you're close to our New England facility we'll come to you for instant service and let you see how straight our results are in our test fixtures. This on-site service saves you labor by eliminating shipping and handling, plus cuts out all shipping and return time. We are also now providing propshaft seal land refinishing. Just like our crankshaft repair method, we use no heat or welding to build these back up. We very lightly grind the land to restore a clean surface then provide specially adjusted seal pairs for the resulting diameter. Our typical maximum removal for a repair is running .015" off the diameter which leaves more than 97% of the shaft's original bending strength. Seal land refinishing is done strictly at our facility. Our price structure for propshaft service is very simple so it's covered here. Straightening is $90 per shaft including return shipping. For on-site, instant service, we'll travel free, 15 one-way miles for each propshaft you have for straightening. So, if for example, you-and your neighboring marine centers-have a total of 5 shafts to be straightened, we'll travel 75 miles free to do your work. And--we'll have it done in only two to three hours: complete and ready for lower unit reassembly. If your amount of work falls short of our free travel criteria and still you need instant straightening for a special customer(s), we can work out a package price.
