Narthanalaya

Founded in 1985, Narthanalaya has been at the forefront of developing young dancers to learn and perform Bharatha Natyam and Kuchipudi, classical dance styles of South India. Dancers of all ages, cultures, and skill level are encouraged to go beyond the expected - to bridge the cultures of the east and west, to instil and practice the discipline em... bodied by art form, to become artists in their own right. Key to the success of the school has been its guru, Srimathi Geetha Yogendran. Hundreds of students have passed through her hands, with over 70 undergoing the thorough rigorous training required for an "Arangetram". Completion of the dance diploma awarded by the school is but one of the driving goals of each student. With the guiding principle of service, each and every dancer is encouraged to participate and take leadership roles in the many charity fundraising dance productions that Narthanalaya has produced.
