N+1 Singer was founded in 2006 with the sole aim of servicing the UK mid and small cap market and becoming the best mid and small cap Investment Bank in the UK. It's been a fascinating time and we've raised over £6 billion of equity for our clients over 13 years. We set up N+1 Singer because we wanted to create a great business and, most importantl... y, own equity - a key part of my business philosophy. There are many things that help create a successful business, but part of that success is the ability for people to aim in the same direction, working together for every client. We have two central tenets that bind us together, our equity and our profit share. Whilst many people like to keep a strict grip on control, we strongly believe that as many people as possible should own the equity. As a result, over 80% of our employees own shares in our business and currently 22 are Equity Partners owning over 0.5%. The profit share has the same ethos - if you are doing a great job for our firm, then you should be on the profit share. As such, over 90% are currently eligible for the profit share, meaning that everyone shares in the success and has 'skin in the game'. We also have 2 external institutional shareholders who have been hugely supportive in the growth of N+1 Singer. As for myself, I've been in UK equities since 1986 when I started trading on the old Stock Exchange floor and I am a long term believer in UK plc. We have a hugely entrepreneurial business system which is supported by a highly skilled and active capital markets sector, providing vital funding to companies. Our aim is to help companies grow from small acorns today into world leading businesses. We look after every aspect of a company's life from advising them pre IPO to then making the share price for them on the market, selling their story to all the UK equity fund managers, writing top quality research, giving strong Corporate Finance advice on deals and, in the end, their exit from the market if they are taken over.
