My Donor

MyDonor was founded by Hilary Marshak, a licensed certified social worker with a Master's degree in Social Work from New York University. She has practiced psychotherapy in New York City for 15 years, specializing in depression, anxiety and loss and grief in addition to her work evaluating both donors and recipients for egg donor programs, as well... as leading fertility groups. Through this work, she developed a special empathy for people experiencing infertility. Many recipients with whom she spoke related tales of great stress and difficulty related to selecting a donor; some asked her to select for them! Although she could not do that, she decided that a certain, special kind of egg donor search agency was necessary, and that was something she could do. So MyDonor was designed expressly to alleviate some of the anxiety surrounding finding a donor. All of our donors have passed their psychological screening. Although we cannot guarantee that our donors will be accepted by your fertility clinic, we want to minimize the risk that a donor may be refused for this reason, as well as saving the recipient the extra step of obtaining this clearance after they have been matched. An additional benefit to the recipient of doing our own prescreening is that it gives us an opportunity to get to know the donor better, enabling us to provide more knowledgeable information to the recipient. We know New York, and so do our donors. Recipients do not have to be concerned about plane and hotel fares, missed connections and appointments, and their donors getting lost in an unfamiliar city.
