Music is important to the success of every wedding. It creates a sense of expectation before the service, accompanies the bride on the most important walk of her life, ushers in a mood of calm reflection during the signing of the register, and brings everyone to his or her feet for the final procession down the aisle. Classical music in particular... has the ability to create the perfect atmosphere for each stage of the service, and this recording brings together a selection of the finest organ music to have graced wedding services over the last hundred years. With the help of this recording, you can make a selection of music for your wedding based on your own listening experience. (And after the service, the CD remains a pleasant reminder of the great day itself). For convenience, we've divided the music up into three sections: music for the entrance of the bride, during the signing of the register, and finally, music for the happy couple's triumphant procession down the aisle. You can find many suitable hymns on another album from The Gift of Music, 'All Things Bright and Beautiful', CCL CDG1027. Why not just start by listening to the music for its atmosphere and the different moods it creates? You may want to make a grand entrance into the church, in which case choose something with 'trumpet' in the title. A more stately entrance may be suggested by The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, which is graceful but distinctly festive in character. Midway between are the Handel Overture and the Air, both from the 'Water Music', while for a traditional entrance piece you might choose Wagner's Bridal Chorus. For the signing of the register we have included calm and tuneful music like Bach's much-loved Air on the G string and Sheep may safely graze.
