The Manufacturing Technology Group, Incorporated, (MTG) was founded in 1996 by two manufacturing engineers previously employed by the Digital Equipment Corporation Metal Enclosures Business of Westfield, MA. Jack Adam, former engineering manager for Digital, and Dick Carver, former principal engineer for Digital, had more than 60 years of combined... experience with machining and fabrication when they started the business. MTG selected Westfield for their facility so that they could hire skilled sheet metal mechanics from the skilled labor pool created by the closing of the Digital facility. Most of the people working for MTG have more than 20 years of experience in their profession, manufacturing precision chassis for computers and large cabinets for the mainframe. Since they have been in business, MTG has become a major contributor to several large companies' efforts to improve quality and reduce product cost. MTG is a two-shift operation that utilizes ABC costing methods to ensure proper pricing of products. MTG has two of the largest laser machines in New England. They are 4,000 watt lasers that can cut steel up to 3/4" thick, in plates 5 feet wide by 10 feet long. Material handling is expedited by automatic shuttle tables. With a complete complement of support equipment, the company can truly offer one-stop shopping for your company's needs. The company can form parts up to 13 feet long requiring up to 250 tons of force. The company offers spot-welding capabilities, as well as MIG and TIG welding by certified welders, and plasma cutting to 3/8" thick steel. Additional manufacturing capabilities include 4 CNC Vertical Machining Centers, automatic inserting capability for PEM style hardware, plus flex arm tapping heads, Bridgeport Milling Machines and the company's multi-spindle drill presses.
