MOTIVE Drilling Technologies was formed to better address drilling challenges presented in horizontal drilling for unconventional resource plays. MOTIVE's Bit Guidance System uniquely provides turn-by-turn navigational instructions for drilling of horizontal wells based on optimizing every directional drilling decision in the best economic interest of the operator. Over the last several years the MOTIVE Bit Guidance System has successfully drilled more than five million feet on over 380 directional wells throughout the major North American unconventional plays. Fifteen U.S. patents have been granted for MOTIVE's Bit Guidance System and many more are pending approval. Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (NYSE: HP) acquired MOTIVE in June 2017.Explore more
