Motion Education

Motion Education was founded in 2009 by Dov Judd in order to offer an alternative approach to athletics instruction for individuals of all abilities, including those who need additional support to keep up with their peers in recreational and/or social activities. Starting with private individual and small group gymnastics lessons, Motion Education... (ME) staff began teaching with the core value of FUN in mind. ME staff found that people are often more motivated and gain motor, social, and cognitive skills more quickly in a highly stimulating recreational environment alongside typically developing children. Many individuals with different needs may not normally have access to such experiences, and benefit tremendously from working in the same space as their peers, who serve as examples for social and motor performance. As enrollment grew, the ME model was refined to allow for further program customization, including the incorporation of other athletic pursuits such as martial arts and agility training, which together form Motion Athletics. ME also began collaborating with occupational and physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, and other professionals to incorporate multiple therapeutic perspectives into the program. In 2013, the Motion Athletics evolved again, this time with the addition of the Integration program. As participants continued to make gains in the athletics classes, the next step was to support their integration into typical sports programs with other children. Motion Athletics now focuses on providing participants with the fundamental skills required to participate in a recreational class and feel successful interacting with other children their age. The goal is that with support, participants will eventually "graduate" from Motion Athletics and enroll in Dynamite Gymnastics, Dynamite Agility, or Pure Performance Martial Arts programs, which share facilities with Motion Education.
