Our goal is to create a holistic, caring clinic that looks after the whole community, from athletes to the very elderly. MOSIP originally started in the early 1970s with the founding Practitioner Vi Davidson. Dr Stephen Sexton then came to work with Dr Davidson in 1987 and shortly after Dr Davidson retired. Dr Sexton continued to practice as the se... nior practitioner and supervised, mentored and taught many students and new Osteopaths over the next decade. In 2001 Dr Sexton renamed the clinic Melbourne Osteopathic and Sports Injury Practice MOSIP. Today MOSIP consists of two clinics with four Osteopaths, a Psychologist and a Medical practitioner. The practice prides itself on a mindful, holistic and caring approach that can be relied upon by the elderly, children, athletes, physical performers and most other members of the community. Nearly one third* of the population (5 million Australians) suffer from musculo-skeletal problems, which cause pain or restrict movement. Nine out of ten* people suffer back pain at some stage in their lifetime that incapacitates them for one week or more. Osteopaths have been treating Australians for conditions such as: backaches, migraine, tennis elbows and various sport injuries, since the turn of the century. Osteopaths are Government Registered practitioners of manual medicine. In Australia, there are three undergraduate Osteopathic courses. All are five years full-time. R.M.I.T.: Bachelor of Osteopathic Science and Bachelor Applied Science (Clinical Science). Victorian University: Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and a Master of Health Science (Osteo). University of Western Sydney (Macarthur): Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biosciences) and a Master of Osteopathy.
