Who is Morrisons Funeral Directors

The company was founded in Parnell in 1921 by William Morrison and is operated today by his three sons, John, Roger and David. When William passed away in 1975 his wife Margaret continued on at the helm with the help of their sons. Sadly, Margaret passed away in 2002 after a lifetime of service to the funeral industry. Our company has always prided itself on being receptive to the needs of families and in 1979 the changing times and families requirements saw the opening of our new, modern facility in Henderson, introducing the concept of chapel, reception lounge, and florist all within the one funeral home, the first of its kind in New Zealand. Many funeral homes follow this trend today. In 1995, the success of the Henderson facilities prompted the opening of our funeral complex in Glen Innes, incorporating chapel, florist, viewing rooms, casket selection rooms and reception facilities. We at Morrison's have always been amongst the leaders in anticipating the public needs and we soon installed the addition of a private cremator at our Henderson branch, which allows families to have the entire funeral for their loved ones, all in the one facility. Ever mindful of the need to keep our client families' needs uppermost, we have built our newest facility in Henderson, close to the original site, providing dual chapels, all with state of the art sound and visual technology, reception lounges, family viewing rooms, a spacious casket selection room, ample parking and private cremation facilities. With all these changes through the years, the care, the high standard of service, the sympathetic advice and support that William and Margaret Morrison first introduced, has not changed and remains at the heart of our company today.
