Extremely shy and an introvert I spent most of my life hidden in the shadows. When I did appear, it was spent seeking the approval of others. Finally in my mid 30s I decided to go after my dream of being a coach. Helping people is what I loved to do. So like most introverts, I started an online business. Why? Because I wouldnt have to sell or deal... with as many people. The first few years of business, I struggled. I was too scared to post. Oh did I tell you I had dyslexia, debilitating perfectionism and an extreme fear of failing. Yup. And every day I was reminded why I wouldnt succeed in business as an online entrepreneur. I kept telling myself I had no stories people would be interested in, that I would be judged and I wasnt good enough. I hid behind the screen envying others as they posted consistently, stories for their journey and not afraid of what others thought of them. I realized that playing hide and go seek was not a good game in business. Why? Because no one knows youre hiding, so no one tries to find you. My turning point came when my coach told me that my stories mattered. She encouraged me to spend time every day writing. It was torture but I persisted and from it came a realization that my everyday, normal stories were what people wanted to read. Why? Because it showed them they werent alone.
