Model United Nations Turkey

It is my honor to welcome you all to the eighth annual session of Model United Nations Turkey (MUNTR) conference. We once more claim to present you an MUN conference with high academic level and lively social network. Over the years MUNTR has come to be the largest conference in Turkey and neighboring countries. During these years, I have experienc... ed the privilege of taking part in this organization as a committee director and now I stand humble and honored as the Secretary-General of this highly prestigious conference. Our sole aim as the organization and academic teams of MUNTR 2005 is to present our participants the best MUNTR ever. Since our last conference in 2011, the Middle East and North Africa has been in the grip of the Arab Spring. It is now impossible to deny that a "wind of change" is blowing through the region. This has been a major factor in the shaping of MUNTR 2005. The academic team of MUNTR 2005, as a result has picked "Democratization and Conflict Resolution" as the theme of the conference with "Change through Collaboration" being the conference's slogan. Although not all of the topics will be directly related to the theme, most will focus on issues derived from the process of democratization and conflict resolution. Meanwhile, we will also be keeping the "time bridge structure" brought by MUNTR 2011. We will focus on the cause, treatment and result of different conflicts in our committees oriented in the past, present and future. Using this time bridge structure and establishing interactive bonds between the committees we intend to create a conference that promises more unity. In order to fulfill the above-mentioned academic objectives we do not only concentrate on frequently simulated committees such as General Assembly committees and the Security Council but we also aim to freshen the conference atmosphere through projects such as International Court of Justice, Future North Atlantic Treaty Organization, G-20 Summit, World Health Organization, Historical Security Council and African ...Read More
