Mocotex S.A. is an integrated agribusiness in Northern Mozambique with three key business lines: transportation, farming and bush trading & aggregation. Mocotex operates one of the largest trucking operations based in Northern Mozambique and is one of the largest landholders in the country. Mocotex directly employs close to 400 full-time equivalent employees and, through the bush trading operation, provides an income flow to thousands of local small-holder farmers. Transportation Mocotex is one of the largest trucking companies in Northern Mozambique, based in Mocuba. Mocuba is situated on the crossroads of the North-South EN1 infrastructure corridor and Quelimane-Blantyre corridor to Malawi & Zambia. The town is only 160 km from the nearest port (Quelimane), providing an excellent location for a logistics hub. At the end of last year, Mocotex doubled its truck fleet to 66 modern and well maintained DAF trucks, bought second hand from Europe. All trucks are monitored by a state-of-the- art GPS tracking system. Farming Mocotex has land titles on 18,000 ha of arable land, located next to the Licungo river, which provides excellent potential for irrigation. Mocotex is currently farming more than 1,000 ha of land, mainly for cotton lint and certified cotton seed. Mocotex is the only provider of certified cotton seed in Mozambique and its business partners have decades of experience in the sector. In addition, Mocotex operates its own cotton gin, enabling it to process cotton on site and add value to its produce. Bush trading & aggregation Involves buying small quantities of maize, pigeon peas and other locally grown crops from smallholder farmers, storing these at our storage facilities and selling them in bulk to regional and international markets.
