MITOSATH is acronym for Mission to Save the Helpless; an idea birthed to tackle problems of marginalization and negligence of the under-privileged in society. In order to overcome these, MITOSATH fosters interest in, and directs the focus of development assistance towards issues affecting rural-dwellers especially those relating to Tropical Disease... s. To support government in the delivery of Primary Healthcare Programmes and to empower the poor rural communities in Nigeria. To improve, preserve and restore dignity to human lives. MITOSATH exists to improve human life by reaching out to neglected communities. We work relentlessly among the rural populace of Nigeria to deliver comprehensive community development services. Our work primarily entails the treatment and prevention of Neglected Tropical Diseases. Our goal is to impact the lives of persons within target groups in affected areas. In the last twelve years, MITOSATH has been engaged in combating NTDs in local communities. Through our work, we aim to restore health to affected individuals and communities and train at risk groups to inculcate survival skills. Our strategy have through the years, enabled us attain milestones of success. We are optimistic about the future. MITOSATH partners with state and local government authorities, and also Community based Organizations (CBOs), to execute disease control programs for the communities we work in. Our major strategy is Mectizan distribution. Mectizan distribution began in 1996 as a Community Based Treatment with Ivermectin (CBTI) program. This strategy proved effective and was expanded into a Community Directed Treatment with Ivermectin (CDTI) intervention in 1990 ? on the premise of the following cardinal principles; MITOSATH executes its interventions by providing technical and material assistance to communities.
