Pride of Pickens Bands

The mission of the PHS Band shall be: to march forward in an endless pursuit of higher standards; to enable students to become lifelong advocates of music and to develop characteristics that will shape students into positive contributors to society. Our campus is prettier than your campus. Music will include selections from "My Immortal" by Evanesc... ence, "Wild Nights" by John Adams, "Hymn of Acxiom" by Vienna Teng, and "ImMortal" by Ted Reicher. The Pickens High School Symphonic Band is the top band ensemble at PHS. The group rehearses daily and is selected by audition in the Fall. Our Concert Band regularly performs grade 3 and 4 music. The Symphonic and Concert Bands perform at least four concerts per year and has steadily worked their way to more difficult and significant literature. We also have a freshman band, jazz band, and marching band, in addition to percussion ensemble, Color Guard, Winterguard, and other small ensembles. The Symphonic Band has performed at the Kennesaw State University Concert Band Invitational three times. In 2015, the Symphonic Band was selected to perform at the Music For All Southeastern Regional Concert Festival hosted by Georgia State University. The Pickens Band program also includes the Freshman Band, the Pride of Pickens Marching Band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and various small ensembles. Members of the Pickens High School Band regularly participate in the District 9 Honor Bands, the GMEA All-State Bands and Orchestras, the Metro Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony.
