The MIU IV provides an itinerant level of hearing impaired support services for students who are able to participate in general education classes in their home district with adaptations/modifications, academic support, and/or consultative support. Resource and part time levels of hearing-impaired support are available for students who require more... intensive interventions. This may include direct instruction in the Hearing Impaired support classroom for part of the school day and general education classes for the remainder of the day. The Hearing Impaired Support classrooms operated by MIU IV are located in Lawrence, Mercer and Butler counties. Speech-language support is provided to students as part of the Hearing Impaired Support classroom to meet their communication needs. Audiological support is provided by MIU IV as a related service to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. For students whose primary mode of communication is sign language, MIU IV provides interpreter service as needed. For deaf or hard of hearing students in need of a more restrictive educational placement there are Approved Private School options in PA for the team to consider.Read More
