MIDI 9 is the joint venture of two long-time Gulbransen employees, Dave Starkey and Walter Chung. Dave and Walter have come together once again to offer the highest quality MIDI retrofit products to the music world. Dave is the original designer of the KS and Orchestra Series products. Walter is a past executive of Gulbransen. Thus, you can rely on MIDI 9 to supply you with the highest quality Gulbransen MIDI retrofit products. What is the meaning of the MIDI 9 name? Well, we are glad you asked. All major MIDI manufacturers belong to the MIDI Manufacturer's Association (MMA), the standards group for MIDI. Each MMA member is assigned a unique identifier number, a System Exclusive ID number. The System Exclusive ID number is used when addressing a product from a specific manufacturer. Any message to or from a device by a specific manufacturer uses a "system exclusive" message with that manufacturer's System Exclusive ID number as the target address.
