About Metsä Spring
In practise, Mets Spring was established by the parent company of Mets Group, Metsliitto Cooperative, in May 2018. Of its two roles, Mets Spring's primary role is to seek and develop new business ideas that further develop the business ecosystem around Mets Group. In the context of this ambition, Mets Spring provides strategic financing from its own balance sheet, both to external start-up companies and internal pilot/demo projects. The common goal for all projects within this scope is to help the companies/ideas pass successfully through the challenging demonstration phase and thus reach a so-called 'proof-of-concept'. In 2021, Mets Spring's role was expanded by establishing the 'Group R&D' function, the aim of which is to support and activate the R&D activities linked to Mets Group's existing business areas.
