Merchant Applications Inc. was established in 1986 to develop, market, and support Retail Management Systems for specialty retailers. Working in the Unix environment, Merchant Applications developed a comprehsive product for use by multi store retailers in many different retail verticals. In 1994, realizing the growing popularity of Microsoft Windo... ws, Merchant Applications embarked upon the development of a new Retail Management System. The original application was developed utilizing Visual Basic, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access. The many years spent developing the Unix product had provided Merchant Applications with a wealth of knowledge in the design and implementation of distributed retail systems. Today, using the latest Microsoft .net technologies has enabled us to be at the leading edge in Windows based retail solutions. In 1995, the Unix product was sold allowing us to concentrate our full energies on further developing and enhancing the Windows product. At present there are over 200 customers using our software in Canada, United States and in the Caribbean. This represents approximately 2,500 machines running Merchant RMS. Our customers cover a broad range of retail categories including fashion, sporting goods, jewelry and hard goods.
