About Mepsco

MEPSCO (Meat Equipment Parts and Service Company) was founded in January 1984 by David Michelfelder, Robert Benton and Gregory McMillion, with up to 15 years each in the meat processing industry. Just prior to this all three had been with a Dutch manufacturer of similar equipment, specializing in brine injectors for ham and bacon. When the foreign manufacturer closed the US operation, the three principals started MEPSCO based on common experience and industry contacts established over the years. Initially, MEPSCO supplied replacement parts, field service and represented other lines of equipment. But within a year, the urge to "develop a better injector" resulted in the first MEPSCO BI-244 Injector. And after exhibiting at its' first ever AMI trade show in Chicago, September 1985, the first injector was sold to a bacon processor in Canada. It didn't take long for other meat processors to recognize the many advantages this new US-made injector offered, as sales quickly increased. In onlyRead more

It didn't take long for other meat processors to recognize the many advantages this new US-made injector offered, as sales quickly increased. In only the second year after its' introduction as a meat injector, the addition of a special model for cut-up chicken parts resulted in a sale of six units to one major processor. Over the next few years other custom modifications were made to meet customer needs such as high clearance, double head, and the addition of tenderizer blades. Product applications included bone-in and boneless hams, whole turkey, roast and corned beef, bacon, chicken and fish. Most recent new developments at MEPSCO include the downsized BI-140 Injector introduced in 1997 and the BI-244RCB with conveyor belt for high speed in-line automated chicken processing. Although MEPSCO has and always will, stay true to its' core business of brine injectors, other closely related processing equipment has been added along the way when nothing else good enough was already on the market. This includes brine mix and chill tank systems, tenderizers and macerators, heat exchanger, filters, and automatic loaders. By sticking to the philosophy of establishing itself as "The ...Read More
