Men Making a Difference

Mr. Willie Battle May 2, 1937 - Mar. 27, 2018 Men making a difference is a domestic non-profit organization duly incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia. Its members consist of retired military, active duty, and civilians from all walks of life. The Million Man March was held March 16, 1995 in Washington, D.C. It was evident that men of... color here in Augusta, Georgia were not as involved with their community as they should be. This is when Mr. Willie Battle, a former Chief Warrant Officer of the United States Army organized and met with seven other individuals. These individuals are George Willaims, Rickey Lumpkin, Leon C. Harpe Jr., Jerry W. Clay, Arthur Tompkin, Issac Butler, and Marvin Shanks. They met at the Golden Corral Restaurant and decided to form an organization of men with the intentions of "stepping , up to the plate" and do their part in the community. During this meeting, on January 27, 1996, the organization was formed and Mr. Battle was nominated and name as the President and Founder of Men Making a Difference.
