About Memphis Belles

Memphis Belles provides local networking at regularly scheduled meetings, programs that include local speakers and tours of aviation facilities, community outreach efforts to encourage young people to pursue aviation careers and regional scholarship opportunities. In 2000, five women got together and started the Memphis Belles chapter in Memphis, TN. The Memphis Belles is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization who's mission is to educate its members and the local community about Aviation. The Belles emphasize the accomplishments and contributions of Women in Aviation. We encourage and promote opportunities within the Aviation and Aerospace Industry with scholarships and career information. The Memphis Belle is a USAAF Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress built in 1942. With her aircrew, she went on to fly 25 successful missions in Europe. Her name originated from the pilot's sweetheart who was from Memphis, Tennessee.
