Mecanor Oy is expanding by taking over Extron Engineering Oy from Uponor Infra Oy. Both companies are based in Finland and are active in designing and manufacturing machinery for plastic products industry. "Thanks to the combined know-how and technology, the new company will be the first company in Europe, offering full plastic pipe and profile pro... duction line from raw material handling to end-product packaging" says managing director Joni Lukkaroinen. Modernization projects and machinery maintenance will play bigger role in the company's business in the future. "By combining Extron Engineering's and Mecanor's resources we can offer our customers even more comprehensive after-sales service than before", adds sales director Jari Ketomäki. Mecanor's roots are also in Uponor. Machinery manufacturing began in 1975 and it has been operating as an independent company since 1992. The cooperation with Mecanor's and Extron's former parent company Uponor Infra will continue. "Uponor Infra will also in the future continue to license and sell certain technologies relevant to the infrastructure business, and we will need strong partners also in the future. Merged Mecanor and Extron Engineering will be stronger and versatile partner for us", says Jari Mylläri vice president, Uponor Infra. Extron Engineering Oy has 19 employees and it's a turnover in 2014 was 5,6 million euro. Over half of its production is exported. Along with the plastic pipe production machinery, Extron is manufacturing blown film lines, where it is the market leader in the Nordic countries, as well as paperboard and wood panel coating lines.
