Master of Sustainable Development Practice (MDP) Graduate Program at the University of Florida provides an interdisciplinary curriculum in the health sciences, natural sciences, social sciences and management skills through research and practice-based learning. This broad core curriculum is complemented by the opportunity to specialize in a particu... lar field of interest from the university's diverse departments. Examples of past and current MDP student specializations have included tropical conservation, gender and development, public health, ecotourism, organizational leadership for nonprofits, wildlife conservation, monitoring and evaluation, program management, sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and social entrepreneurship. Options for other specializations are numerous, as UF Faculty from over 7 unique schools of study and over 20 different departments, centers and research institutions at the University of Florida support the MDP Program. The MDP Program prepares students to take integrated and culturally sensitive approaches to development, working to advance economic opportunity, livelihoods, public health, political empowerment, peace and environmental conservation in Latin America, Africa and other regions of the world. Graduates haven taken their position among development professionals in international nonprofits, private enterprises, governments and policy institutions. To date, program alumni are employed in a variety of development fields with position titles that include project manager, program coordinator, executive director, evaluation research coordinator, country director and monitoring & evaluation coordinator, to name a few.
