The Air source heat pump system is proving more and more... popular with our customers when building there new homes in an effort to cut their energy bills. This system operates by extracting the heat from the air which is used to boil a refrigerant gas inside the heat pump; this gas is then turned to vapour and passed through the compressor. Within the compressor the refrigerant gas is squeezed and pressurized before it exits the compressor at the heating side as a high temperature gas. his high temperature gas is then passed through a plate exchanger where it is used to heat the water which passes through your underfloor heating system. The heat pump basically keeps repeating this cycle to satisfy your full heating and hot water demand. A heat pump system is designed to operate for approx. 14 hours per day throughout the heating season at the lowest possible flow temperature which in turn enables the system to provide substantial annual savings over standard conventional oil fired heating systems. With this in mind we would always propose installing the air source heat pump system in conjunction with underfloor heating designed to operate with a lower than standard flow temperature which basically entails installing a larger volume of underfloor heating pipe within the floor screed.Read More
