McCarthy Taylor Ltd was formed to provide clients with a professional independent bespoke financial planning service. The Company was founded by an experienced accountant who, having sold his practice some years earlier, saw that there was an opportunity to provide a non-product based approach to giving financial advice. Whilst working with a major... financial services group, incorporating Independent Financial Advisers, Actuaries and Investment Portfolio Managers, he gained hands on knowledge in each of these areas. Indeed he also provided compliance services to the IFA of the Year 1994 and 1995, as well as other top advisers, before setting up this firm. The practice has recruited like-minded individuals who view the concept of giving advice as more important than the selling of products. Integral to this approach is the offering of a fee-based service, removing any doubt that commissions might influence our advice. Likewise, we are committed to high standards of knowledge and continuous professional development. We have developed expertise in areas that do not require the involvement of insurance company products, such as trust-based self-administered pension schemes, self-invested pensions and a variety of trusts. We construct portfolios providing direct and ongoing advice, selecting asset allocations for individuals that reflect their individual attitude to risk and then applying this to the selection of individual collective funds, investment products, financial instruments or appropriate assets. We regularly review and assess such funds, interviewing fund managers, consolidating research from major investment houses, publications and producing a monthly investment report. Where individual shares are to be held these are referred to major stockbroking firms, with whom we maintain excellent relationships.
