MC Racing

Michael McColligans love of racing began ahead of elementary school. Each May, he would suit up in his helmet and driving gloves (Dads hardhat and gardening gloves) to watch his favorite driver, Mario Andretti, compete in the Indy 500. He saved his paper-route money to buy his first car (1973 Volkswagen) that was sitting dormant in a field. The ori... ginal goal of simply getting it running was soon forgotten as it was rebuilt from the ground up into a show-winning custom and part-time drag racer. While in college, working on his Mechanical Engineering Degree, he was the Lead Drivetrain and Suspension Engineer on the Mini-Baja Off-Road Vehicle Team. This senior project involved designing and building an Off-Road Race Vehicle. In the schools first attempt at the competition they finished 7th out of 33 schools. In addition, to graduating with honors in Engineering, he also received an MBA Degree. McColligan also competed in Off-Road Motorcycle racing and worked on Pit Crews for several race teams. In 2003 it was time to take the love of racing to the next level. McColligan formed MC Racing, received his SCCA Competition License, purchased a first-generation Mazda RX-7 and entered the highly competitive PRO-7 Class. He quickly improved his driving and car preparation skills finishing in the top ten series points in his rookie season. This rapid rise continued as McColligan was a regular top finisher with 2 victories and 3 podiums in his final PRO-7 season. in their first 2-Hour endurance race with pitstops.
