Mayfield Vineyards

Our Vineyards sit either side of the hilltop village of Mayfield, amongst the rolling hills, woodlands and deep-cut ghylls of the Sussex High Weald. They are surrounded by bluebell woods in springtime and over-flown by Red Kites and other hawks in summer. They are an evocation of this unique Sussex countryside at its best. Within our two vineyards... (Hobdens and Lakestreet) we grow Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot gris and Pinot blanc. With almost 9 hectares under vine, we grow lower yielding Burgundy clones, which mature richly in our High Weald terroir, alongside Champagne clones for structure. This carefully selected combination allows us to create wines with enticing fruit flavours, aroma & complexity. Our aim is to produce limited editions of top quality distinctive English Fizz from perfect fruit, aged for an optimal period & offering the fullest possible expression of our Mayfield High Weald terroir. We are committed to growing the best quality grapes and treating them with respect and minimal intervention in the winery. Our House Cuvée is a Rosé, for which we have a great passion. We also make Blanc de Blancs & Blanc de Noirs lees-aged sparkling wines. We make for those who like to revel in the differences between vintages, tasting the changing nuance of season, place & vineyard parcel. With our limited-edition cuveés we mix traditional winemaking skills with contemporary innovation in our quest for the perfect English Fizz.
