About Matt Large

In 2007 Matt Large relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan from Wilmington, Delaware, where he spent the better part of a decade apprenticing and working hand-in-hand with former President of the National Sculpture Society, Charles Cropper Parks (deceased). Heres a photo of Mr. Parks working on a figure that Matt Large posed for. In addition to developing a respect and love for classical figurative sculpture through his relationship with Mr. Parks and drawing on his previous art education in the human figure, Matt has also learned the proven, time-honored sculpture techniques and artisan craftsmanship from his talented mentor. Matts specialty skill in portraiture has been refined from his years of creating likenesses for clients in paint, pencil, clay, and a variety of metals. Matts work has been exhibited at the Delaware Art Museum, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Mika Meyers Beckett and Jones Law Firm, the Jackson Armory Arts Project, Destination 1Read more
