MathEcology

MathEcology, LLC was established in 2003 by Colleen Burgess, the Managing Partner, as a small woman-owned business with the goal of employing mathematical modeling to assist policy-makers and planners with science-based decision making. Initially, MathEcology served the compartmentalized role of subject matter expert and technical specialist, howev... er over time our role within grants and contracts has expanded and evolved to include the entire lifecycle of our projects, from project design and background research, to model development, to coding and simulation, to analysis and finally to delivery of results in written format and in group presentations. This role continues through current and recently completed projects, including work for the World Health Organization to employ mathematical models to support a case investment for the global eradicatio nof measles, and work for the US DoD in which we developed epidemiological models for various infectious diseases to evaluate the impact of disease transmission among deployed troops. These more complex projects have involved the whole range of our offered expertise. Over the years, we developed more than two dozen technical reports and whitepapers, including a book chapter and several publications in peer-reviewed journals, and successfully served customers representing academia, industry, military and Federal government agencies, and local and international non-profit organizations.
