Mastoran Corporation was established in 1985 by Larry and Paige Kohler. The husband and wife team began with Burger King restaurants in Waltham and Stoneham, Massachusetts, and have since grown the company through new restaurant development and by acquisition. Mastoran now has 1,200 employees, 43 Burger King restaurants and manages several multi-te... nant commercial properties across Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Mastoran's in-house construction team handles all aspects of real estate development and management, from new design-build projects through renovations and maintenance of existing properties. Before creating Mastoran, Larry served as executive vice president of restaurant operations and new concept development for Burger King Corporation. In those roles, he was responsible for corporate wide quality assurance, product research & development, and other vital operations. Larry is a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service as an infantry sergeant in Vietnam. After success at the corporate level, Larry and Paige launched Mastoran to build a sustainable family business that would serve customers, create jobs and give back to the community. Paige, who remains treasure of the company, managed construction of new restaurants and renovations to existing locations for 20 years. Since 2005 Marc Rochon, a licensed general contractor who worked alongside Paige for many years, has led the Mastoran construction and maintenance team. Larry remains the CEO of Mastoran, but day-to-day operations are now led by the next generation of the family. Brek Kohler joined the business in 2003 after earning a BS from Wake Forest University and working for several years as a financial analyst for Bank of America.
