About Masa & Joyce
Masa & Joyce was originally established in 1978 by its founders Masa and Joyce Tobaru. Masa was born and raised in Okinawa and came to Hawaii seeking a better opportunity. When he arrived in Hawaii he worked as a fisherman catching Aku or skip jack tuna . Joyce, also from Okinawa, always had interest in cooking ever since she could remember. She worked at a restaurant in Okinawa before coming to Hawaii and continued to work at restaurants and school cafeterias here in Hawaii. The two put their areas of interest and expertise together and came up with the idea to combine a fish market with an okazuya (Japanese Deli) and the rest is history.Explore more
