Malawi Leaf Company Ltd started its operations in the year 2006. The underlying policy of the company is to carry out its business purely on a commercial basis. Malawi Leaf Company Limited... was established because Management and the Board of Directors of Auction Holdings Ltd recognized the need for the participation of an indigenous company in supplying tobacco to traditional and new users. The merging and closing of some multinational tobacco merchant companies was recognized as a threat to sustainability of Malawi tobacco supplies to customers' world-wide. It was also felt that there is a place in the market for a low cost operation, with low corporate overheads to operate below the big multinational dealers.
