About Mainstay
Mainstay was founded in 1975 under the name Mental Health Programs, Inc. (later MHPI, Inc.)- to provide affordable, community-based housing to people with mental illness. In 1999, a service affiliate, Residential Support Services Inc. (RSSI), was founded to provide care and services to the company's residents and others in the community. The company's mandate has since expanded to cover a variety of vulnerable populations, including low-income elders; people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities; and the recently homeless. In 2019, the companies were merged under the name Mainstay to reflect the company's integrated programs and approach to care.Explore more
