Main Street Newspapers is a company with seven non-daily newspapers serving the communities of Blacksburg, Christiansburg and Radford in Montgomery County, the communities of Vinton, Salem and Cave Spring in Roanoke County, as well as Craig County and Botetourt counties. The newspapers provide award-winning community journalism and have been a part... of the New River and Roanoke Valleys for more than 150 years. Chronicling the lives of those who call this part of Southwest Virginia home is Main Street Newspapers' stock in trade. Each week our newspapers give more than 100,000 readers the news most important to them - local, hometown news. Main Street Newspapers was founded in 2000 by Wilson Koeppel and Jeff Stumb with the goal of keeping readers and advertisers in touch with their home town. Keoppel and Stumb were senior managers with Boone Newspapers, a community newspaper publishing company with operations in more than a dozen states. Koeppel was a newspaper editor and publisher in Alabama, Texas and New Mexico before forming Main Street Newspapers with Stumb. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama. Stumb has been a newspaper editor, publisher and owner in Alabama, Texas and Tennessee. He is a graduate of Auburn University. The management team in Salem consists of Advertising Director Chris Manning, Controller LeTina Shaffer, Executive Editor Ed McCoy, Circulation Director Mark Welsh, Operations Coordinator Debbie Nixon and NRV Sales Manager Rhonda Fleming. Our coverage area stretches from the rolling fields and orchards of Botetourt County northwest of Roanoke along the Interstate 81 corridor to the Blue Ridge Mountains that border Montgomery County and looks down on Virginia Tech and Radford University.
