Macclesfield Primary School

Macclesfield Primary School was established in 1909 and celebrated its centenary in 2009. The school is situated within a semi rural residential area on the eastern edge of the Dandenong Ranges, approximately 50 kilometres east of Melbourne in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. The school has completed a three stage extensive capital works and grounds impr... ovement program, which has left the school with excellent facilities. This has included administration, multipurpose hall, canteen, student toilets, school-funded music room and refurbished art room space. Stage two provided six learning and teaching spaces, library and associated ground works. Recently completed, using Building the Education revolution (BER) funding, are four general purpose classrooms and associated space - library, meeting and seminar spaces. Macclesfield provides a range of extracurricular activities that create opportunities and experience for students to nurture their academic, social and emotional development. Macclesfield is one of 27 schools in the Dandenong Ranges Network and is involved with the Emerald District Education Cluster of schools, which is a subset of the Network. This network has developed a unified and purposeful focus for the delivery of quality programs for its school communities. Curriculum projects, professional learning, opportunities, common curriculum days and parent information sessions are examples of the work of the Network. At Macclesfield, parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all school activities and to be partners with teachers in developing positive relationships between home and school.
