Dogs improve the quality of our lives, decrease blood pressure and stress as well as increase our life span. We want to improve their quality of life too. The following five goals represent our commitment: Prevention of Cruelty to Dogs Provision of Medical Care Provision of Public Education Concerning Care of Dogs Facilitation of Adoptions to Lovin... g Homes Engagement in Fundraising Programs To Enable Us to Continue Our Efforts The prevention of cruelty to dogs is reflected in our efforts in rescuing stray dogs, providing humane care and treatment of dogs needing protection, seeking to return lost dogs to their owners and seeking suitable homes for dogs without owners. Through the assistance of various highly skilled veterinarians, we provide support dogs in our care to be spayed or neutered as well as receive age appropriate vacations. We provide information to adopters and perspective adopters about the importance of age appropriate vaccinations, the prevention of heartworm disease, parasite (flea or tick) protection for both cats and dogs. The importance of the socialization of dogs is a common topic discussed. We also coordinate efforts to manage the medical health of dogs and cats in need. Before a dog is placed into a new home from our shelter, they are in good health. Creating a caring environment for dogs involves accurate information and education about the care and treatment of dogs. This is accomplished through public education in the way of newspaper articles, presentations to schools and civic groups as well as education of individuals coming into our clinic or seeking to adopt a dog. In order to provide the best care possible, it is necessary to raise funds for the care of dogs. Fundraising activities are both informal and formal. Currently, fundraising efforts are done through word of mouth, online, newspaper coverage as well as through our annual fundraiser on site, annual spay and neuter dog walk and monthly adoption events.
