The London Project to Cure Blindness aims to use Stem Cell technology to restore sight, prevent progression and ultimately improve the quality of life for patients with Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and other retinal and macular disorders. The London Project is a collaboration between Professor Pete Coffey and Dr Lyndon da Cruz from Univer... sity College London and Moorfields Eye Hospital. The aim of the project is to combine cutting edge knowledge and technology from the laboratory, clinic and operating theatre in order to accelerate the development of new treatments for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The London Project has received generous and innovative funding assistance from research councils, charities, personal benevolent donations and many donations from individual patients and supporters alike. We have been fortunate in receiving both large institutional grants as well as small personal donations and are grateful for the full range of help we have received. The London Project will continue to work hard to achieve its goals to improve the lives of patients with AMD by advancing research into treatments. We will continue to focus time, resources and the combined skill base of the hospital and laboratory to move towards definitive treatments for retinal and macular disease using stem cells and stem cell based technology.Read More
