Log Jam

Log Jam, Incorporated is a non-profit corporation organized to financially and emotionally assist families of Montana loggers, log truck drivers, chip truck drivers, and mill workers killed in work-related accidents. The Board of Directors has established that these families are to receive 25% of the Fund balance up to a maximum of $15,000 as soon... as possible. As of April 9th 2014, Log Jam Inc. will also fund a maximum of $1,000 for travel expenses due to a "critical" injury. The beneficiary of this fund must be a Montana logger, log truck driver, chip truck driver or mill worker critically injured in a work related accident. The beneficiary must be classified as "critical" (by definition using the ALERT guidelines) by medical personnel or facility. Also as of April 8th, 2015, Log Jam Inc. will award five - $1,000 scholarships that will be drawn at the annual event. The Fund was established after the death of Kathy Hardy's husband, Bill Hardy, in 1987. Kathy and her daughter, Breanna, received assistance from local friends and family at the time of the accident. As a result of the greatly needed help, Kathy and her friend, Doug Brown, established the "Bill Hardy Memorial Fund" to provide the timely, and much needed support for others that find themselves faced with a tragedy of losing a loved one. In 1990, we made our first benefit payout. That same year we also changed the name of the Fund to "Log Jam, Inc.", which would more accurately reflect the annual event to ultimately benefit fallen timber industry workers throughout Montana. Since Log Jam 89', we have assisted 47 families who have lost a loved one in a tragic timber - related accident. All the families were very grateful for the financial and emotional support received from this Fund. As with any non-profit organization, we welcome the public to inspect our records and/or books.
