About Local Roots Restaurant
Established in 2010. Located in Roanoke's Historic Grandin District, Local Roots Restaurant celebrates the absolute best of the region, from locally-farmed vegetables and meat to the handcrafted dining room tables produced by area artisans. Local Roots first opened as a small café/coffee house w/ local produce & a farm to table mission as well as being a community gathering place. My son Rives Elliot used all his college money to get it started, made the farmer contacts, had the tables made, renovated an old day care center. It opened in Dec. 2007 after two years of work.. After focusing on the restaurant day & night for four years, Rives was ready to move on. I so believe in local,organic,sustainably produced & did not want to see all his hard work go down the drain so I jumped off the cliff & bought it from him.
