Livingston Round Table

Livingston Round Table (LRT) was originally started in 1978 however disbanded in December 1999. Two game individuals in the form of Simon Aston and Ian Smith aimed to do something about that and set about resurrecting Livingston Round Table, this process started in April 2009. The LRT is "a social club with a social conscience and aims to make a po... sitive difference to the local community". With little money but bags of enthusiasm, Simon and Ian decided the best way of kicking off Round Table in Livingston was a high profile cleaning of the 'Welcome to Livingston' sign just off the M8 motorway at Livingston. This took place on Sunday 5th April 2009. Our main form of fund raising is the Santa Sleigh where we visit the streets of Livingston. In December 2009 the LRT Santa Sleigh hit the Livingston area for the first time in many years. The sleigh was built by Addiewell Prison. In that first year we raised just under £2,500. Every year it has gone from strength to strength and in 2013 LRT raised just over £8.5k. The table was officially re-charted on 1st April 2010 where 10 members were inducted by the then National President David 'Sharky' Barker. The first Chairman of the newly re-chartered Livingston Round Table was Simon Aston.
