LionPAC

Beyond LionPAC, Columbia's campus is already a mecca for debate and programming on Israel. Aside from student groups committed to the issue, there are academic departments, programs, and even unrelated student groups that allocate resources to dealing with Israel. It is not unusual for there to be four or five Israel related events in a given week.... To stand out from the rest of these programs, we must broaden our programming and create events and bring in speakers that truly attract attention. With a new structure and constitution, LionPAC's potential for responding to these challenges is now greater than ever. I want to make sure we reach that potential and I believe I have the experience to know how to do it. In high school, I led a similar restructuring for the school newspaper. We started with four staff members and, by the time we were done, we had 37 staff members and the newspaper's influence and readership had grown tremendously. I believe the key to projects like these is to promote smart delegation, which LionPAC's new constitution is built for. With proper delegation, we will be able to work on far more projects than was previously possible. There are a few specific projects I would like to add to LionPAC's repertoire including a community calendar that tracks all Israel-related events in Columbia and in the New York area, so students have easy access to a broader range of ways to connect to Israel. In a similar vein, I'd like to make use of our alumni network to organize an internship database for students looking to engage in Israel beyond campus. Additionally, I'd like to explore the possibility of creating a LionPAC membership program, whereby LionPAC supporters are rewarded for attending events, flyering, sharing facebook posts, etc. This program would serve as a way for students to stay involved and be a part of LionPAC, even if they are not interested in serving on the board.
