Since 1923, Lifesteps has been providing programs and services to help people in western Pennsylvania. Over its history, the Agency has evolved from being known as the Crippled Children's Society and the Easter Seal Society, to being known today as Lifesteps, a diversified Agency serving children, families, adults with intellectual/developmental di... sabilities, and seniors. However, one thing has remained the same: the Agency mission - Helping individuals and families with life's changing needs by developing programs and providing services which will improve their quality of life. The Agency is committed to carrying on this important mission that began so many years ago. Today, families are faced with many challenges such as finding quality early care and education; finding the right services for children with developmental delays like Autism; coping with separation and divorce; helping adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities live life to their fullest; or caring for aging parents with Dementia and Alzheimer's or other difficulties. To help families in need, Lifesteps continues to be committed to providing the highest quality services with the best possible standards while focusing on the needs of the people in the communities it serves. The Agency is focused on five key Strategic Directions that guide decisions. The Strategic Directions are Programs; Services and Assurance of Quality; Staffing; Sustainability; Marketing; and Governance. Agency leadership understands that the plan for the future requires hard work, commitment, and all of our resources to be successful and to strengthen what has already been built. With cutbacks in government funding and competition for the donor dollar, the continued need for support from individuals and businesses remains critical.
