Lifeschool is a non-profit organization founded in Berkeley, CA in 1999 to empower teens with real world skills through outdoor adventure. Go Adventure is Lifeschool's flagship program, which offers highly customized outdoor tours for groups of 10 or more. What is Lifeschool aiming to accomplish? Lifeschool aims to create healthier, more empowered... young adults who have the tools to live their dreams and become beacons of hope in their local and worldwide communities. Every year, Lifeschool evolves to keep current with the needs of teens. Now, 17 years later, we still operate on three basic premises: First, all teens deserve the fundamental resources they need to grow into healthy, independent, responsible adults. These include social, emotional, physical and creative endeavors - not just academics. Second, the negative physical and psychological consequences associate with 'nature deprivation' are well documented. Additionally, in facing the effects of climate change we must promote environmentally responsible behaviors in our teens, ethics that are built though hands on experiences in nature. Finally, today's teens are overwhelmingly 'plugged in and checked-out' - deprived of the opportunities they need to connect with peers, work in teams and establish healthy social norms.Read More
