Liber AL is an online and mail-order bookseller and dealer in antiquarian books, artefacts & ephemera. Our primary focus is on second hand & new books, rare and limited editions. We specialise in religious, magical, esoteric, heretical, arcane, profane, subversive & dangerous works for open and enquiring minds. We stock titles on such topics as rel... igion, theology, philosophy, western mystery traditions, Kabbalah/Qabalah, Ordo Templi Orientis, AA, Thelema, The Golden Dawn, alchemy, hermeticism, rosicrucianism, magic, mysticism, theosophy, witchcraft, and subversive counter-culture. The books I love are the ones that were, and sometimes still are, banned, burned, confiscated or censored. My personal weakness is for books on occult philosophy and magic, and in particular works related to British occultist Aleister Crowley (12 October 1875 - 1 December 1947) who led a somewhat extraordinary life during which he arguably courted notoriety and was labelled by the press of the time as "The Wickedest Man In The World". This led to a rather two dimensional characterisation which is still being shaken off. Born to a wealthy Plymouth Brethren family in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Crowley rejected this faith to pursue an interest in Western esotericism, poetry, and mountaineering and his influence is still felt today. We are lucky to have the opportunity to own many of these books today, whether it's a priceless early first edition, a beautifully bound modern limited edition or a simple trade paperback.
