Leyden High Schools

Nearly 200 students strong, the Leyden Marching Band is among the very largest and mostvisible organizations at the Leyden High Schools. The band includes freshman through senior students from both the East and West Campus. The Leyden Marching Band boasts a wide variety of students to include: this year's valedictorians at both East and West, most... of the top 10% students at each campus, well over 100 student athletes, many students who participate in school clubs, and students who work...However, they all like the Marching Band so much they find a way to make it work in their busy schedules-so you can, too! The Leyden Bands are annually seen and heard by an excess of 300,000 people at high visibility performances which have included: Walt Disney World, Cedar Point Amusement Park, Washington DC, televised Independence Day Parades, NIU's Band Day, plus numerous civic engagements to include: the Radio City Rockettes, the U.S. Naval Reserve Association, Northwestern University, the American Federation of Teachers, United Airlines, Dominick's, the Rosemont Convention Center, Oak Brook Hills Hotel, Follet Books, PSI, and half-time performances for both the Chicago Rush and the Chicago Bears. Many Leyden Band students enjoyed a two-week, seven-country European Concert Tour in 2006 with The Illinois Ambassadors of Music, and many will do so again this summer-Basically, there are tons of great opportunities for you to perform and tour with the Leyden Bands. Performing quality literature, Leyden Bands have also performed at University events such as the Northern Illinois University Invitational Wind and Percussion Festival, the Wheaton Conservatory Band Festival, the University of Illinois Allerton Chamber Winds Symposium, and clinics at the University of Notre Dame and Bowling Green State University. The Leyden Bands have also consistently received "Superior" ratings at such competitive events as the Midwest Music Festival and the State of Illinois Concert Band Contest.
