LenersanPoortman was founded in 1803 as Lenersan & Co's Exporthandel N.V. and traded in grains, seeds, legumes, products for human consumption, animal feed and by-products. Poortman N.V. was founded in 1868; Lenersan and Poortman merged in 1803. In 1973 LenersanPoortman was taken over by the Swiss company SiberHegner. The company, located in Rotter... dam, built new premises and a factory in Dordrecht, which was opened in 1978. The main reason for the relocation was the location next to the Merwede river. In 1982 Holland Diervoeders was also incorporated. SiberHegner in the meantime merged with Diethelm Keller. The two companies, Holland Diervoeders and LenersanPoortman, now operated together under the name DKSH Netherlands B.V. from Dordrecht. In 2011 DKSH Netherlands B.V. was sold to the Depre Group. The new entity was named Holland Diervoeders B.V. The trade name LenersanPoortman was re-introduced for the activities of the trade department. Group Depre is a family combination of firms specialised in the production of top-grade animal feed, for both working and sports animals as well as domestic pets. Generating a total turnover of 450 million euro and employing a workforce of 400 employees spread over 8 production plants in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, Group Depre belongs to the top in Western Europe. Group Depre has developed and specialises itself in four principal activities to play a roll in the feed production chain. On the one hand, Group Depre is actively engaged in the market of industrial compound feed used in intensive livestock breeding and furthermore, it is active in the production of petfood for birds and rodents on one side and on the other side in petfood for dogs and cats.
